I'm considering upgrading from my i7-7700 since I'm switching platforms. My current setup includes an RTX 3050 8GB GPU (which I had to get after my old 1060 broke) and 32GB of HyperX Fury RAM running at 3200MHz. I power everything with a 600W Silver PSU. I primarily use my PC for Blender and gaming, specifically titles like Rimworld and Rainbow Six, plus some VR gaming. I'm thinking about moving to an R5-5500X3D, but I'm unsure if that's the right choice given my budget of around $300 to $500.

What country are you located in? With your budget, you might consider getting a DDR4 B760 motherboard alongside either an Intel 14600K or KF since it seems like they could work well for you.
Interesting! Just so you know, the 5500X3D even performs better in some games. Additionally, that CPU is mostly available in South America and a few Asian countries.
I'd suggest going for a 14600K or 14700K, keep your RAM, and get a good motherboard that’s DDR4 compatible. I upgraded from an i7-7700 and a 1060 myself, and those setups really held up for a long time—around 7 years for me! Whatever you go with, hope you enjoy the upgrade!
Honestly, with your current GPU, the choice of CPU isn't going to make a huge difference for gaming. But since you work with Blender, you might want a CPU with more cores, especially if you use Eevee rendering. For Cycles, the GPU is still more beneficial. The 14600K or 14700 would be good options for helping with combined renders without affecting gaming performance.
Thanks for the insights!

I'm in East Asia, specifically Taiwan, and it looks like the 14600 is about 350 bucks here, but it's kind of out of stock. I've mostly seen the 14700 available.
