Experiencing High RAM Usage on AMD Laptops: Anyone Else?

Hi everyone! I'm curious if anyone else has noticed unusually high RAM usage lately. Today, three colleagues mentioned their laptops have been lagging significantly, especially when they're trying to drag items across screens or applications. I checked one laptop and found it idling at 80-85% RAM usage, even after a restart. It seems like this issue is primarily affecting users with AMD-based laptops, while those using Intel machines (like mine) haven't encountered this problem. I'll be running additional diagnostics with the affected users to identify the cause, but so far, no specific apps appear to be consuming a lot of memory; even Chrome is under 1GB. Each of these machines has 32GB of RAM, so an 85% usage rate is quite concerning!

Don't forget to consider background processes! Sometimes, it’s not just the apps that are visible but also the system and other background processes that can use up memory. It could be worth monitoring those as well.

I've seen some discussions about this recently, like the one linked here. It seems there's a mix of opinions on whether this is truly a high usage problem or something else. Might be worth checking out more issues around it!

If it's only happening on AMD laptops, I'd suggest looking into recent driver updates for the AMD chipset or Radeon software. Bad updates can cause memory leaks, particularly with the Radeon overlay service. Run a tool like RAMMap to get a clearer picture of where the memory is being consumed instead of just relying on Task Manager.

Definitely check for those AMD driver updates first! I've seen issues like this come from recent changes, and running RAMMap should help you pinpoint what's actually using the memory.
