How can I effectively use an SD card on Linux, especially on a Chromebook?

I just started using Linux on my Debian Bullseye Chromebook, and I'm trying to access photos from an SD card. I've had trouble finding the card initially and I'm also struggling with unmounting it. Is there a comprehensive guide that explains how to use SD cards on Linux from start to finish? I'd appreciate any advice or software recommendations that might simplify the process since I found the information online pretty confusing. Thanks!

It seems like there’s a bit of a mix-up with the ChromeOS Linux environment and standard Linux. You might want to install a user-friendly file manager that can help you navigate easily. Usually, SD cards and USB drives go to the /mnt/chromeos/removable directory. Remember to unmount or eject from ChromeOS before removing the card.

Plug & Play can vary, but in your case, it seems you have to do a bit of manual work. Once you find the SD card in your media directories, you can use file managers that offer an eject option. Just check if there's one you can install that fits your needs!

It sounds like you're having some mounting issues. I successfully mounted an old SD card on my older laptop running a different distro, so it's definitely doable! If you’re getting errors, it'd help to share them. Knowing exactly what happens can point us in the right direction!
