I've got a bit of a puzzler here. I was using my PC without any issues earlier, then I shut it down for about an hour. When I tried to power it back on, the DRAM and CPU lights on the motherboard lit up and it won't POST. For the past six months, I've kept everything in the BIOS at stock settings, except I enabled AMD PBO with a +200MHz boost, set the power limits to the motherboard, and activated the EXPO profile without any problems. I haven't made any hardware changes or deleted files. The only possible issue I can think of is that my SSD is getting old, but it's strange for it to stop working after just being turned off. I've tried a bunch of troubleshooting steps:
- Removed the CMOS battery for 10 minutes
- Shorted the JBAT1 pins
- Reseated the RAM (both sticks and tried them one at a time)
- Waited to see if it was just memory training
- Attempted to boot into BIOS
- Updated the BIOS using the onboard button
- Booted with no peripherals attached
- Checked all power and cable connections thoroughly
Here are my specs:
- CPU: Ryzen 9800X3D
- RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro DDR5 64GB
- MOBO: MSI X670E MAG TOMAHAWK WIFI
- GPU: PNY GeForce RTX 5090
- SSD: Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1TB
- PSU: NZXT C1200 Gold (1,200 Watts)
Any advice on what else to try would be greatly appreciated!

Have you tried removing the GPU and connecting your monitor directly to the motherboard? This can help you determine if the GPU or CPU is causing the no POST issue. I've had similar problems where my GPU was the culprit.
It sounds like it could be a dead CPU or RAM. Both are pretty new, but if you've tried reseating them, it's worth checking further.
How would I go about figuring out which one it might be?
Your PSU seems to be fine since the fans are spinning. Does your motherboard have an EZ LED feature? That could help diagnose any issues.
Yep, it does! All the fans and their LCDs are lighting up just fine.
I'm having the same issue with a similar setup, specifically the MSI X670E Gaming WiFi motherboard. I went from working perfectly to not booting at all. Any thoughts on what updates might have triggered this?

Tried that, and thankfully it isn't the GPU. Now I'm wondering if it’s the CPU—but that’s going to be more costly to replace.
