Is Overclocking Worth It for My Gaming Setup?

I'm currently playing Black Ops 7 and having a tough time with my FPS. I have a 5070 Aero RTX GPU paired with a Ryzen 9 5900X and an ASUS B550 motherboard, but I'm only getting around 160 FPS even on the lowest graphics settings. It feels frustrating since I've invested heavily in my build. I've heard about overclocking but I'm nervous about potentially damaging my system or creating safety issues. Is it worth it to try, or should I look at other options?

What resolution are you playing at? If you're on 1080p, having two 16GB RAM sticks is good, but your RAM speed is a bit low at 2800MHz. If you're having issues with DOCP and can't bump it to 3200MHz without problems, that could be limiting your performance too.

I'm definitely playing at 1080p, and yeah, the RAM speed seems to be an issue since it's acting up when I try to push it any higher.

Overclocking could give you a small boost in performance, but don't expect a major increase—maybe around 5%. Is that really worth the hassle unless you're into tweaking for fun? Also, considering your 5900X, are you sure you should be getting more FPS? Your 5070 typically caps around 150 FPS on 1080p, so it might be worth reconsidering your expectations or adjusting in-game settings.

I played around with overclocking on my 5070 Ti and 5080, and while I got a boost of about 8-15 FPS by applying some core and memory clock adjustments (+300 core and +1500/1750 memory), it took some time to find a stable setup. Just be careful and monitor your temps. If you decide to go that route, remember to tweak slowly!

Thanks for the advice! I'll start tweaking it and keep an eye on the temperature.
