I'm wondering if I can connect a standalone Blu-ray player to my home network using an Ethernet cable and watch a disc on my Linux computer that's also on the same network. My setup won't allow HDMI or streaming—it's strictly Ethernet. Is this possible?

Manufacturers could add that kind of feature if they wanted, but honestly, I doubt many do. If it’s not advertised on the box, chances are you won't get it. Just keep that in mind!
