I'm looking for advice on which Linux distribution to install on my Lenovo Legion 5 laptop from 2021 or 2022. It has a GTX 1650 graphics card, an i5-10300H processor, and 16GB of DDR4 RAM. I'm hoping to use this laptop for a long time, so I'm steering clear of Windows 11 and instead going with Linux. Gaming isn't a concern anymore since I have a gaming PC for that purpose. I primarily need this laptop for university work and storing photos from my camera. My main priorities are privacy, performance while browsing, ease of use, and long-term support. Any recommendations?

I'd recommend giving Kubuntu a shot. It's super user-friendly and works out of the box without needing a lot of tweaking. The KDE desktop environment is one of the best out there, and it's running perfectly on my ThinkPad.
I'd suggest openSUSE LEAP as it's stable and well-tested, perfect if you want something reliable without too much hassle. It gets regular updates and should serve you well!
For stable longevity, you might want to look into Debian. If you prefer something simpler, Mint or LMDE could be what you're after. OpenSUSE is also worth considering. Make sure to check how others with the same laptop model have fared with different distros!
You might also like feren OS or Zorin OS. They're both quite user-friendly and have a nice aesthetic, which might suit your needs perfectly.
Have you thought about using Pop!_OS? It's based on Ubuntu and is very beginner-friendly, plus it has good hardware support, especially for NVIDIA graphics. If you want something a bit more rolling and up-to-date, openSUSE Tumbleweed is a fantastic choice because of its stability and regular updates. Both are solid options!
