I've been given a fantastic assortment of PC parts to build my own computer! I'm super grateful since I was originally saving for a prebuilt system. However, I'm a bit lost on how to put everything together and if there are any additional components I still need. While I've been told this should cover most of what I need, I'm also interested in future upgrades.

One specific area I'm unsure about is fans. How many do I actually need, and is there such a thing as reverse fans? Also, I've seen mixed opinions on whether the GPU should be vertical or horizontal—does it have an impact on airflow, or is it just a matter of looks? I'm finding myself more confused the more I watch PC build tutorials!

Wow, you got a lot of great parts! From what I can see, you’ll have enough fans already. If you're looking to fill your case entirely, you might consider 6 reverse fans and around 4 normal ones. The reverse fans can go on the back and bottom, while the normal ones can go on the top and back. Just remember that reverse fans are mainly for aesthetics!
Regarding the GPU, stick with the horizontal position unless you have a specific reason for going vertical. Just take your time with the assembly and keep following the tutorials. It’s pretty much like building with adult Legos; most pieces will only fit in one direction!
If you're planning on installing a radiator vertically, consider setting it up as an intake with 2-3 fans at the bottom and a couple on top for exhaust, plus a rear fan.
