How can I recover data from my broken phone?

Hey everyone! I accidentally damaged my phone yesterday when I dropped it. The screen is totally black and has some scratches and holes, but it still vibrates when I charge it, so I wonder if the software is still functioning. I just got a new phone (I'm having some SIM card issues, but that's another story) and I'm really hoping to transfer my data from the broken one. Is there any way I can do this? Thanks a ton for your help! You guys are the best!

Just plug your phone into a PC and see if you can browse the storage directly to copy over your pictures, videos, etc. It's worth a shot!

In the future, please remember to back up your data regularly! Whether it's to a hard drive or the cloud, it's super important to avoid losing everything if something happens to your phone. Using a case could also help protect it!

You might need to get a bit creative here! If you have a USB-C dock that supports HDMI and has USB ports, you could connect your phone to a TV and a mouse. This setup might let you unlock the phone and access your data.

What type of phone do you have? If it's a newer Samsung S model, you could get a USB-C hub that connects to a monitor via HDMI, which would let you access the phone using Dex mode.

If you didn't back up your phone to the cloud, your options are limited. Trying to access the data could involve repairing the phone or sending it to a data recovery specialist. You'd need to unlock the phone to access any data, and without a working screen, that's tough to do.
