I recently picked up a budget build that came with an RX 580 2048SP with 8GB of VRAM. I found a GTX 1060 with 6GB at a decent price on the marketplace, but I'm wondering if it's worth the upgrade considering I plan to switch out the GPU in about four months anyway. What's your opinion on which card performs better?

Honestly, just keep the 580 2048SP for now. It’s really a repackaged RX 570, but you can still overclock and undervolt it quite effectively. I’ve done it on my own RX 580, and it performs admirably. Plus, AMD is still updating drivers regularly which helps a lot with performance.
If you’re only going to have the GPU for a few months, I'd stick with the RX 580 2048SP. The RX 580 and GTX 1060 are pretty closely matched, but with the RX you get that extra VRAM, which can be beneficial in some rare situations. Plus, you've already got it in your build, so why spend more money now?
The RX 580 is generally a bit faster than the GTX 1060 thanks to its additional VRAM. Unless you specifically need the 1060 for content creation or a unique feature, I’d personally skip it. The RX should serve you well for what you need right now.
Just a heads up, the RX 580 2048SP is technically a rebranded RX 570 and is about 10% slower than a full RX 580. If you're looking just on specs, the 1060 might be better for you, but if you already have the 580, upgrading might not provide a noticeable benefit except in specific scenarios. Just keep that in mind!
I hear you! Since I've already got the RX 580, I guess it makes more sense to stick with it for now.

That makes sense! I'm just worried because I've heard the RX 580s from AliExpress can be rebranded models that aren't actually that powerful.
