How Can I Store a Linux Distro on an SSD Before New ID Laws Take Effect?

I'm considering making a switch to a Linux distribution because I'm concerned about privacy issues, particularly with the upcoming ID laws in California. I'd like to know the best way to install a Linux distro on an SSD before I might be forced to share my ID. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

You might want to think about getting an external SSD in an enclosure. This way, you can have your own OS on the go and use it on any computer you have access to. Just make a bootable USB stick, plug in the SSD, and run the installer to set it up. Remember to encrypt the disk for safety!

Installing a distro on an SSD won't help you avoid the ID issues. The law requires an OS to provide online services with age verification. So, having your OS on an SSD won’t make a difference if an online service asks for your age.

I get that, but I'm thinking more about having a Linux setup ready to upload files while using a VPN or Tor to protect my identity.
