I'm new to PC gaming and not very knowledgeable about it. Right now, I've got an old Xbox X/S that's really slow and doesn't have enough memory for more than four games. Upgrading with an SSD costs about £110. New Xbox Series X consoles are around £500, and pre-owned ones go for about £350. I'm wondering if it's worth switching to a gaming PC for a similar price or if I should just stick with getting a new Xbox. Any advice would be appreciated!

Overall, it depends on your gaming style. PCs offer more versatility, but consoles have a lot of value for casual gaming. They also cost less up front. But if you think you’ll play a ton of games and enjoy upgrading components, then definitely consider a PC.
Consoles are often cheaper, especially if you're looking at the second-hand market. However, a PC will save you money on games in the long run because they are typically cheaper on platforms like Steam. Just be cautious, especially if you're not familiar with PC builds. Buying used can be a good way to go.
Exactly! I keep an eye on sales to get the best deals on PC games.
If you can save up a bit more, you could build a solid PC that lasts 5+ years and offers way better performance. But if cash is tight, I suggest sticking with the console; a pre-owned Series X is a good option.
I hear you! I'm leaning towards getting the pre-owned Xbox myself.
I’ve got both, and while the Xbox is great, I’d say get a PC if you can afford it. You can upgrade parts as needed. A used prebuilt PC with decent specs can be found for around £700; just remember to budget for a keyboard and mouse too!
Good point! A gaming laptop is also a solid option if space is tight!
Generally, a gaming PC will be pricier than a console. If you're looking to match the performance of the Xbox Series X, you might spend around £700 or more, especially if you want decent parts. It might not be worth it if you're on a budget.
Yeah, and don’t forget the ongoing costs of upgrades and peripherals. A console might just be easier in the long run.

That makes sense! I want something that can grow with me, not just a quick fix.
