How can I migrate my VMs to Azure with a 10 CPU limit?

I'm in the process of migrating our virtual machines from OVH and Amazon to Azure, but I'm hitting a wall with the 10 CPU quota. I can't request an increase because I lack sufficient billing history (I've got three months of O365 invoices with no payment issues). This situation feels frustrating—how are new clients meant to establish their resources if Microsoft closes support tickets automatically for new accounts? Am I missing something important here?

I totally get your frustration with the CPU limits when trying to get started. Microsoft’s reasoning is that without any history, they don't want to risk allowing unlimited resources that could be abused. You might want to consider looking into reservation plans instead of pay-as-you-go. Also, check out Azure Accelerate; they have programs to help with the migration process. Just keep in mind that Azure regions differ in terms of CPU limits and available server sizes, so that could be part of the answer!

Right? I’m willing to pay upfront for more CPU, but I can’t find that option anywhere either.

I think the reason for the limit is security-related. Microsoft restricts access to higher CPU quotas to prevent potential abuse, especially since those accounts might also unlock access to bigger resources like GPU quotas. If you can, try using newer SKUs that have lower allocations. A lot of people tend to oversize their systems and end up wasting resources anyway.

But shouldn’t Microsoft be proving their value to us too? I can’t even set up a solid SQL server with just 10 CPUs for our additional loads.
