I'm looking to upgrade my old CPU because I think it's holding back the rest of my PC. I've made various upgrades over the years, but the CPU is the last component that needs replacing. Here are my current specs:
- Motherboard: Asus Prime Z-270A
- Current CPU: Intel Core i7-7700K @ 4.20GHz
- GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT (8 GB)
- RAM: 32GB DDR4 3200MHz
- I've got a 750w PSU, a Noctua DH15 cooler, and multiple SSDs.
I'm not aiming for high-end performance since I just play games at 1080p/60fps. I'm hoping to find something that pairs well with my setup without breaking the bank. My budget is up to $600 Canadian, but I'd love to find a solid upgrade for less if possible. I'd appreciate any advice or suggestions!

Just a heads up, the CPU you have is the best your motherboard supports. If you're open to upgrading your motherboard as well, that could widen your options significantly. By the way, what’s your budget and where are you located?
Since you already have 32GB of DDR4 RAM, it makes sense to upgrade to a compatible CPU that fits your current setup without going overboard. You might want to consider getting an AMD Ryzen 5800X with an AM4 motherboard or an Intel i5-14600K with an LGA1700 DDR4 motherboard. Noctua even provides free mounting hardware for these sockets if you need it.
