Is Buying a 2023 Laptop in 2025 Worth It?

I'm looking to buy a new laptop soon, and I have a budget of $1500 or less. I found an Asus Rog Strix G16 with an i9 processor, 1TB SSD, 16GB RAM, and RTX 4070, all within my budget. However, since it's a 2023 model, I'm concerned that spending money on a two-year-old laptop might not be a wise decision. Should I go ahead and buy it?

It should work just fine for you, but keep in mind the i9 can be a bit of a power hog, which might affect battery life and thermals. Just be aware that it could run hot under heavy usage.

Yeah, my 14th-gen i9 gaming laptop heats up a lot, even when I'm not pushing it hard at all. You might want to monitor temperatures if that's a concern for you.

Honestly, a two-year-old laptop is still a solid choice. The i9 is powerful, but I'd recommend looking for models with 32GB of RAM if you can find them, as that will help with multitasking and future-proofing. There’s also an MSI model I recently suggested to someone that had similar specs and was quite good.
