Why won’t my Lenovo laptop start after sitting unused for 2 years?

I recently tried to power on my Lenovo laptop for the first time in two years, and it's not functioning as expected. I initially set it up 2 years ago but then put it away. Now, when I try to turn it on, it takes a long time to boot. After a power cycle, I was confronted with a BitLocker screen, but thankfully I found my recovery key and entered it. Now I'm stuck on a 'diagnosing your PC' screen. Why is my essentially new laptop having these issues? This situation is discouraging, leading me to consider switching to a MacBook, as I've had good experiences with Apple products. Do you think it's worth giving up on this Lenovo and opting for a MacBook instead, given my limited laptop experience?

It's not unusual for SSDs that have been inactive for an extended period to get a bit sluggish or even suffer from data degradation, which is often referred to as bit rot. A fresh installation of Windows should fix the problem. Just make sure you delete the existing partitions and do a clean install to avoid any leftover issues from the old setup.

I thought about doing a fresh install too. Just looking for the best way to go about it, thanks for the tip!
