I've been using Discord on my computer, and recently I've been getting a strange prompt saying, "A new audio device has been detected: 7Seconds Microphone." I thought it might be linked to my headphones, but even after unplugging them, the 7Seconds input device still showed up. This has happened a couple of times now, and I'm starting to worry that it could be spyware or something weird. I also ran Malwarebytes and it didn't find anything. Can anyone help explain what's happening?

Don't panic too much! It's unlikely to be malware if your antivirus is clear. It might just be a harmless device trying to connect or an app confusion. Sometimes, Discord can pick up audio devices that aren't actively plugged in. If it keeps bugging you, try reinstalling Discord or resetting audio settings to default.
It sounds like Discord is detecting a virtual audio device that could be related to software you have installed. Sometimes apps create these virtual devices without you knowing. Make sure you check your audio settings to see if this 7Seconds device is listed and maybe consider uninstalling any recent software you added that might be causing this. It could also be a glitch within Discord itself!
That makes sense! I had a similar issue with a virtual audio cable app once. I just checked the audio inputs, disabled the unknown devices, and it stopped bothering me.

Thanks for the reassurance! I’ll give that a try and see if reinstalling helps.
