Best Linux Distro for Gaming and Beginners?

I'm looking to move away from Windows since I'm stuck on Windows 10 due to limited disk space. Plus, my country just passed an age verification law for operating systems. I'd like to extend the lifespan of my current PC, which unfortunately has some RAM and performance issues. I'm somewhat of a novice in the Linux world, so I was thinking about starting with a user-friendly distribution like ZorinOS to learn the ropes, and then switch to a more gaming-focused distro since I primarily use my PC for gaming. I've heard about Proton having better compatibility with Arch-based systems, but that seems a bit too complex for me right now. I've also received a recommendation for PikaOS but don't know much about it. Can anyone suggest a good starter distro or a better option for gaming?

If you're new to Linux, I recommend starting with something based on Debian, like Ubuntu or Mint. They tend to have a wealth of documentation and a supportive community. Experiment with different distros to see what fits your system and what you enjoy the most. Try out some through your browser on sites like distrosea.com before committing to installation!

That's a great idea! I've been toying with some distros via live sessions and found Zorin and Mint to be quite user-friendly.
