Upgrading My GPU for Dual 4K Gaming: Is the RX 9070 XT a Good Choice or Should I Go for the RTX 5070 Ti?

Hey all! Since the new WoW expansion dropped, my frames have taken a serious hit, often falling to 40-50 FPS while my GPU is maxed out at 96-99% usage. I recently set up dual 4K monitors, which has only made things worse. I'm considering upgrading my GPU and have my eyes on the RX 9070 XT for around $762 or the RTX 5070 Ti for $1088. WoW isn't much of a ray tracing game, so I'm tempted by the 9070 XT for its value, but I'm a bit concerned about missing out on DLSS and whether my 750W PSU can handle the 5070 Ti.

I'm not convinced either option will give you a big enough performance boost to be worth the cash. You might see a 10 FPS increase with the 5070 Ti, but dropping over $1000 for that isn’t really appealing. The main performance gains are in the VRAM, which might not make a serious difference for WoW.

I'd go with the 5070 Ti for sure! DLSS is a game-changer, and it handles 4K gaming without any issues. Plus, your 750W Gold PSU should be fine; mine runs smoothly with it! Just keep in mind that your CPU might hold you back a bit, and the prices are pretty steep right now. Consider looking for a 5080 that’s closer to MSRP instead.

Honestly, the RX 9070 XT is about 22% faster than your current RTX 4070 Ti, while the RTX 5070 Ti offers only 28% more performance. Given the price tags, I don’t think either upgrade is really worth it unless you can significantly lower your effective cost by selling your current GPU. Plus, since WoW doesn’t support DLSS, losing it isn't really an issue with the RX 9070 XT.

Good point! If I sell my 4070 Ti, the effective price drops to around $300-350 for the 9070 XT, or $600-650 for the 5070 Ti. That might make it feel a bit more justifiable.

Yeah, it's crazy how badly WoW performs! It's maxing out my CPU usage too, along with the GPU. Just shows how intensive the game can be at times.

It’s worth checking the CPU usage while you’re gaming. WoW is known to be CPU-intensive, so you might want to see how your individual cores are holding up, not just the overall usage. Many high-end builds are struggling and only getting about 40 FPS in crowded areas, so you’re not alone. Experimenting with some settings could help, but even upgrading to a 5080 might not make a huge difference given your CPU.
