Why Does My TV Turn Off When I Stand Up From My Chair?

I have a weird situation with my TV that I can't figure out. Whenever I stand up from my computer chair, which is about a meter away from the TV, it turns off for a couple of seconds before coming back on. This happens even when my computer is turned off. If I move my chair away and then stand up, everything's fine. I also noticed if I stand straight and squeeze along the desk, it doesn't happen. But turning my chair to the left while standing causes the TV to turn off. I've tried touching a metal surface to ground myself, but the issue persists. The desk is against a wall, and to my right is another wall with the TV mounted about a meter behind my chair. I've replaced the TV thinking it was faulty and checked the setup, but there are no wires being interfered with. It's perplexing! Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

Honestly, the simplest solution might just be to avoid standing up! Or maybe just learn to scoot around in your chair instead. It could save your TV!

Haha, that's one way to go about it!

Have you checked all the cables to make sure everything is secure? Sometimes loose connections can cause weird issues like this.

Yeah, I triple-checked everything when I replaced the TV. No loose cables that I could find.

Is your chair just a regular office style? No fancy electronics or anything? If it is just a typical chair, I’d suggest checking or replacing all your cables as someone else mentioned.

It's a standard office chair. I already replaced the TV which came with new cables, so it should be good.

Could you try running an extension cord to the TV from another outlet? That might help figure out if it's an electrical issue. Just curious, do you have wooden floors or something? Plug a lamp into the same socket as the TV and see if that goes out when the TV does.

I’ll give the lamp test a shot—I have one nearby. My floors are polished concrete.

This sounds really odd. I was once in a similar situation where my screens turned off randomly. I never found the cause, but it stopped happening after a while. Maybe it’ll just fix itself!

Hope it stops soon, this is driving me nuts!
