Why Did I Experience a Huge FPS Drop After Changing My Motherboard?

Hey everyone! I recently swapped my PC setup from a compact ATX case to a mini-ITX case, and along with that, I changed my motherboard from an Asus Z690-P Wifi D4 to an Asus H610I-Plus D4. My goal was to save some desk space and upgrade to a 360 AIO cooler instead of the old 280. However, I've been facing a significant drop in FPS. For example, Cyberpunk's benchmark used to average around 115 FPS, but now it's only hitting about 68 FPS. I've also noticed obvious FPS drops while playing Battlefield 6. Does anyone have an idea why this might be happening? Has anyone else gone through something similar? Any tips on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks a lot!

It sounds like the new motherboard's VRMs might not be able to handle your CPU's power needs, which could be causing some serious throttling. Plus, there’s a chance your CPU could be thermal throttling for some reason too. Also, the benchmark you're using might not be reliable, as it’s been criticized by manufacturers like Nvidia, Intel, and AMD, and even flagged by Microsoft at one point. It might be worth trying out a different benchmarking tool to see if the results hold up.

Thanks for the heads-up! I actually wasn’t aware of the issues with that benchmark. How can I check if the VRMs are the bottleneck? I’ve got Aida64 running, and my GPU doesn’t seem to be thermally throttling since the fans aren’t ramping up enough to suggest that.
