Why Did My iPhone Charger Cable Catch Fire?

I was charging my phone at 2:00 AM while using it, and suddenly, the part of the cable that connects to the phone caught fire. I quickly unplugged it, and thankfully, nothing else in my room got damaged. Now I'm feeling really paranoid about charging my phone again. Should I avoid using it for now?

Honestly, it might just be that you were using your phone while it charged. It’s generally not recommended to do that. Just take a break for tonight!

Could be a sign of a bad cable. I’ve had cheap USB-C cables short out on me before. Just something to keep in mind! Also, it’s late—maybe put the phone down and get some sleep?

Definitely stop using that charger for now. Maybe consider getting a brand like Anker—I've heard good things about their durability. Better safe than sorry!

It could also happen if there’s debris in the charging port. That's something to check out. Just be vigilant with your cables!
