I'm considering getting a Xiaomi A Pro 65" TV at a decent price of $600. It's been a while since I've owned a TV, and apart from watching movies and YouTube, I'd like to use it for gaming, particularly since I don't have a console and my laptop likely won't handle 4K gaming well. My plan is to play in 1080p, but I'm worried about how it will look on such a large 4K screen. A store consultant mentioned that it would look terrible, but I've heard that 1080p can upscale nicely on a 4K display. I'll be sitting about 8-10 feet away from the TV, and I'm curious if anyone has experience with 1080p gaming on a 65" 4K TV. Also, I'd love to hear thoughts on whether the Xiaomi A Pro is a good buy or if there are better options in the same price range.

Why not just watch a 1080p gaming video on that screen to see for yourself how it looks?
I tried 1080p on a 55" 4K TV and honestly, it looked pretty bad. But it really depends on your expectations and what you're used to seeing.
I game on a 55" 4K TV from about 2.5 meters away, and I barely notice a difference between 1080p and 4K. TVs typically have decent upscaling, so just make sure to set the desktop and signal resolution to 1080p. The TV's upscaling often beats the laptop's GPU.
Distance from the screen matters! If you're gaming on a PC, you can use FSR or DLSS to render at 1080p and upscale to 4K effectively for better visuals.
Using DLSS on high performance settings can make a big difference. It can help achieve a great-looking 4K output even if you're running at 1080p.
