I've been paying for iCloud storage and have all my photos synced there, but my iPhone 11 still says it's full. Even after I delete videos from my phone, I hardly see a decrease in storage. Is this typical? I thought that storing photos in iCloud would help free up space on my iPhone. Am I missing something?

Have you checked if your photos are set to 'Optimize iPhone Storage'? That option allows your iPhone to keep lower-resolution versions of your photos while saving the originals in iCloud, helping to save space.
Your concern is valid! iCloud Photos syncs your images, so if you delete something from your phone, it vanishes from iCloud as well. There could be other things taking up space, like system files. I'd recommend checking your iPhone's Storage settings to get a clearer picture of what's using all that space.
Just remember, iCloud is separate from your iPhone's storage. While it can help reduce what's stored on your phone, it primarily serves as a backup. If you delete photos on your phone, they get deleted from iCloud too. Make sure 'Optimize iPhone Storage' is enabled, and check your total storage to see what's actually taking up space.
