Should I Choose an 8GB or 16GB 5060 Ti for 1440p Gaming?

I'm thinking about getting a 5060 Ti for gaming on a 1440p monitor, intending to play most games at ultra or max settings. While I'm not focusing on AAA titles, I initially planned on getting the 16GB version. However, I noticed that the average FPS between the 8GB and 16GB models seems pretty similar. I'm wondering if the 8GB version would be sufficient for my needs, or if the extra VRAM in the 16GB model is worth the extra $200-$300. What do you guys think?

Definitely lean towards the 16GB option if you can manage it. I had issues with VRAM stuttering before on an 8GB GPU while playing at 1440p. Some titles allocate more VRAM than you'd expect, especially if they allow for max settings or ray tracing. You really don’t want to run into stutter while gaming, especially if you're pushing graphics to the max.

Yeah, and a lot of newer games are creeping up in their VRAM requirements. If you occasionally play big titles, it's better to be safe with 16GB.

For sure, plus the 1% lows on the 16GB are often much better, which means smoother gameplay even if the FPS seems similar on average.

If you're aiming for ultra settings at 1440p, I recommend going for the 16GB version. It’ll handle higher resolution textures and better lighting effects, which really enhances the gaming experience.

Consider what games you play the most. For older titles or lighter games, the 8GB version might suffice. But some newer games can surpass the 8GB limit at max settings, so it's a toss-up depending on your preferences.
