Can a thief track my new iPhone after my old one was stolen?

I recently had my iPhone stolen, but I managed to activate Lost Mode and request to erase the device shortly after it was taken. I've been trying to track my old phone's location via iCloud, but it's never shown up again. I ended up getting a new iPhone and set it up using the same iCloud account as my stolen phone. When I checked the Find My Phone app, I noticed that my stolen device had a location from the day after it was taken. The erase request is still pending, as it says it will erase when connected to the internet.

Now, I'm worried that the thief might be able to see the location of my new phone. Is that really possible? How did my stolen phone still show a signal after the erase was initiated? Also, can tracking happen without an internet connection? Should I consider creating a new iCloud account for my new phone instead of using the old one, since I still want to recover my old data and photos?

The thief wouldn’t be able to track you unless they have your Apple ID password and your device connects to the internet. Once it connects, it will get erased as requested. Stick to common sense!

Honestly, it doesn’t make any sense for a thief to track your new phone. They’d need your password and access, which they likely don’t have.

No, the thief can't see your location unless they know your passcode for the stolen phone. If they pulled the SIM card, it wouldn't connect to the network to receive the erase command. Just keep the old phone linked to your Apple account; removing it would grant the thief the ability to erase it themselves. Don't give them that chance!

If you set a screen time passcode for your new phone, it will be much harder for anyone to access sensitive information, even if they get their hands on it. It's a good safety measure!

Apple has some helpful support documents regarding these situations. They explain what you should do if your device gets stolen. I recommend checking their [support page](https://support.apple.com/en-us/120837) for detailed guidance.
