I'm dealing with a situation where my PC got infected with a virus, and now I can't see some important files on my NTFS flash drive. I'm not looking to buy any software since I'm on a tight budget and I have tons of files that I need to access. Are there any commands or methods I can use to view these hidden files?

There's also a small utility called Smadav that's around 1.5MB. It's meant for detecting and un-hiding files that were hidden by malware. You could try that if you feel like risking it!

You don’t necessarily need new software. When I've assisted people before, I've booted from a live Linux USB. It provides a clean environment and often allows access to NTFS drives without issues. You could copy your files to another drive and scan them later. Just an idea if you're comfortable with that.

That sounds like a solid option! I’ll consider giving Linux a try.
