I just got my hands on about $2,000 in cash and I'm looking to spend around $1,000 to $1,500 on a new PC. I want to know if I should upgrade my old pre-built Cyberpower PC or strip it for parts and start fresh. Here are my current specs: CPU is an Intel Core i7 7700K, RAM is 64GB Dual-channel DDR4, and I have a MSI Z270-A PRO motherboard. For graphics, I'm using an ATI Radeon RX 580, and my storage includes a 931GB Western Digital HDD and a 931GB NVMe WD_BLACK SN850. I can save some cash by keeping the RAM and my monitor. My goal is to game at decent quality (1080P is fine) and stream for fun, nothing too professional. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like reusing your RAM and SSD would save you some budget. Your CPU and graphics card are decent, but they might struggle with more demanding games. If you're okay with a medium 1080P setup, you might be able to get away with upgrading some parts rather than starting completely from scratch. Just keep in mind that some parts may not be as future-proof if you want to game and stream effectively.
Definitely strip it down for parts! Your RAM and SSD are valuable for a new build. The case and power supply might be usable too. I’d suggest focusing on a new CPU and GPU to ensure you’re ahead for current games. Just make sure the motherboard you choose is compatible with your RAM and those new components.

That's good to know! So I should definitely keep the RAM, right? What about the motherboard?
