How can I handle a H2testw warning about my SD card?

I recently bought a 64GB SanDisk SD XC card to use with my Nintendo 3DS, but I learned that the device can only support up to 32GB. When I tried to download some extra content, I ran into an error. After backing up the data on my SD card to a PC and formatting it to exFAT, I had no luck, but formatting to NTFS worked. I used H2testw to check the card's integrity, and it indicated that the media is likely defective, with most of the storage space showing as lost. The card seemed to function fine before this issue, and I'm wondering if I should just risk transferring my backup data back to it and using it as normal. What do you think?

Based on your H2testw results, it sounds like your SD card might be fake or defective. Fake cards can appear to work fine until you try to use more space than they actually allow, which seems to be about 8GB in your case. It makes sense since the trouble started when you attempted to save more data than the real capacity.

To find out if your SD card is fake or defective, check for a few things. Look at the packaging for any signs of poor quality or spelling mistakes in the brand name. Inspect the card itself for any inconsistencies in its print or shape. You can also test it with different software tools to confirm its real capacity.
