Help! My Touchpad Settings Are Missing After Windows 11 Reinstall

I recently reinstalled Windows 11 Home (build 26200) on my laptop using a USB installation medium to give my computer a fresh start for work. However, I'm facing a frustrating issue: I can't access the touchpad settings. In the 'Bluetooth and devices > Touchpad' section, I should see options like 'Cursor speed' and 'Scroll & zoom,' but they're completely missing from my settings.

The touchpad itself works fine - I can click, drag, and even use two-finger gestures for clicking and dragging. The only problem is that I can't find the settings needed for two-finger scrolling, which is really important since I'll be traveling a lot and using a mouse isn't practical. I've tried updating the drivers manually and used the Intel Driver Assistant, but it hasn't identified any issues. I've searched for help on YouTube and various forums, but nothing seems to resolve my problem. Any suggestions?

Check if there’s a new Touchpad option under Settings > Devices after the reinstall. Sometimes the Elan or Synaptics drivers can mess things up. I recommend installing the Microsoft Precision Touchpad driver as it usually brings back the missing options. You can find the guide for it online, and it should help restore those settings you’re missing!

Considering you've just done a reinstall, it might be worth trying another clean install just to see if it resolves the issue. Make sure everything is backed up beforehand! Sometimes it’s a simple glitch that a fresh install can fix.

It sounds like you might have missed installing the specific drivers for your touchpad after the reinstall. These drivers can sometimes get overlooked during the process. Have you checked the manufacturer’s website for any touchpad drivers specific to your laptop model? If your laptop is an HP, go to their support page and look for any touchpad drivers you can install. That should bring back your settings!

If it’s an HP Pavilion, make sure to download the HP support assistant. It helps with driver installation and might find the missing driver automatically.
