Will my old iPad lose its data if I connect it to WiFi?

I recently fixed the screen on my old iPad 2 and was able to access my games and photos. I want to connect it to WiFi to download more games and check out some other apps I had on it. However, I'm worried that connecting it might link to my current iCloud account and erase everything. I've backed up my data to my laptop just in case, but I want to be sure before I give it a try.

Just a heads-up, the iPad 2 is quite outdated, so you might struggle to find new games that are compatible. Plus, you could run into issues with online browsing since older certificates may have expired. Make sure to back up your important stuff, then connect it and enjoy the nostalgia!

Thanks for the advice! I just want to make sure the apps I've already downloaded still work with WiFi. I’ll try connecting and see what happens!

It sounds like you’re worried about losing your data when connecting to WiFi. From what I've heard, if you connect an old iPad to a current iCloud account, it can sometimes mess with the data stored on it. It wouldn't automatically wipe everything, but there's a risk. Since you’ve backed it up, you should be fine to try it, just keep an eye on how it behaves when you connect.
