Why Can’t I Access www.retronews.fr? Getting SSL Errors

I've been trying to access www.retronews.fr, and while it seems fine for French users, I'm facing SSL errors in multiple browsers. Specifically, I'm encountering the PR_END_OF_FILE_ERROR in Firefox and ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR in Chrome. Both browsers don't provide much detail or an option to bypass these issues, so I'm wondering what might be going wrong. Any advice on how I could successfully access this site?

Check if the date and time on your computer are correct. Also, can you access the site from other devices like your phone? And how about your internet connection? Does it act the same on WiFi versus cellular data?

Thanks! It looks like my WiFi connection has some strict restrictions, possibly flagged as phishing by surbl. I think it got hijacked, but it works fine otherwise.

I just tried it from the UK using Virgin Media, and they blocked the domain saying it has a virus. However, when I used my mobile connection with Giffgaff, it timed out initially but reloaded fine on a second try. Check those virus scanning sites for issues—they list it as problematic. You could also try using Tor to bypass these restrictions.

Some routers might have restrictions against certain sites. Try resetting your router or check if there are any filtering settings enabled.

Are you on a corporate network or using a proxy/VPN? There might be a TLS version issue or something affecting your connection. Double-check that you’re connecting to the correct site and not something hijacked that’s sending a plain HTTP response.

Thanks for the tip! I wonder if it was flagged incorrectly, possibly due to the newsletter setup.

It seems to be working fine here in the Netherlands. Have you tried accessing it in an incognito tab? The SSL certificate is still valid for a couple more months.

Thanks! I did try incognito, but it still didn’t work.
