Should I Get My Son a Prebuilt PC or Go Custom for Streaming?

I'm looking for advice on whether to buy a prebuilt gaming PC or go for a custom build for my son's birthday. He's turning 11 and has been doing really well in school, so I want to get him something special. He enjoys playing sports games like MLB The Show, Madden, and 2K, as well as Fortnite and Warzone. We have access to a Micro Center nearby, so I'd love to know which option would provide him the best experience without breaking the bank. He's already got a monitor set up, and although his uncle is skilled at building PCs, I'm open to either prebuilt or custom, depending on what's best. What's a reasonable budget for a solid gaming setup that can handle streaming these games smoothly?

If you're considering a prebuilt, look at bundle deals. You could pay for assembly, which would save you some hassle, especially since your son is only 11. Plus, a good prebuilt like the Powerspec G730 for around $2k should handle streaming for years to come.

Yeah, that's a solid investment! And you could always upgrade the parts later if needed.

Just a heads up, streaming has age regulations. He might have to wait a bit until he’s old enough, but you could start with recording gameplay instead. That way, he can learn editing skills while keeping it safe.

Great point! It can be a fun way to introduce him to content creation without the risks of live streaming.

For a budget of around $1000, I suggest either a decent prebuilt or custom AMD setup. AMD offers better value for performance. If he's interested in learning, building with his uncle could be a fun experience, too!

Definitely! Hands-on experience can teach him a lot and make for a memorable birthday.

Make sure to check out Micro Center for recommendations! Their staff can provide good advice compared to a regular electronics store. Depending on your budget, I'd lean towards a prebuilt since it simplifies things. You could find something solid that fits your needs.

Totally agree! Prebuilts are super convenient, especially if you're new to PC purchases. Plus, prices are pretty reasonable at Micro Center.
