Hey everyone! I'm on the hunt for a high-speed external hard drive suitable for gaming. My current internal hard drive and SSD aren't cutting it, and I really want a plug-and-play option without having to install anything. My C drive is almost full, and whenever I try to download games to my D drive, the performance really suffers. I'm looking for recommendations for a reliable external drive where I can store my games. Any suggestions would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Honestly, if you're open to it, installing a SATA SSD can give you much faster speeds than any external drive. It's super easy—installation takes like 5 minutes! Plus, you'll likely save some cash compared to an external option.
Just to help you out, it is totally possible to run games off an external drive, but make sure both it and your computer support high transfer speeds. I grabbed a Samsung external SSD that supports USB 3.2 and it works great for games like Star Citizen!
Thanks for the info! What specifications do you need from my setup? I can send it over.
It’s tough to give solid advice without knowing your build. If your setup can handle it, I'd recommend going for an M.2 SSD—way more performance. If your D drive is slow due to other issues like the CPU, a new drive won't really fix that.
What details do you need? I can share my specs. Thanks for the help!
If your current drive isn’t performing well, an external drive might not improve things much. I'd suggest upgrading the SSD instead since that could help with gameplay too.
Got it! Do you have any specific SSD recommendations?

Could you send me a link to some? Thanks, man!
