What can I do if my micro SD card won’t be read by my computer?

Hi everyone! I recently lost my father in a tragic motorcycle accident, and we're currently working with the police regarding the investigation. We believe that the micro SD card from his CIEL M16 smart monitor could hold some important information related to the case. However, when I try to access the card using my MacBook and an adaptor, it indicates that the card cannot be read and suggests that I format it. We've even consulted my dad's motorcycle friends, but no one seems to have a solution. Does anyone have any advice on how I can retrieve the data from this card without losing it?

That's really tough. It's surprising the police haven't collected the card yet since it seems like crucial evidence. You might want to contact them and explain why you think it’s important—they might have protocols for retrieving information from damaged or unreadable cards.

We're in the process of gathering more evidence before involving them fully, but I appreciate the suggestion!

First off, definitely don't format the SD card; that could erase all the important data. Have you tried accessing it using a Windows laptop? Sometimes different operating systems handle issues like this better. Just make sure you don't take any action that would alter the card until you get a successful read.

We did use a Windows laptop, but unfortunately, it asked us to format it as well.
