USB Drive Issues: Can’t Play Videos After Ejecting Properly

I've been using a 64GB USB drive to store videos for my TV, and everything was working fine. Recently, I decided to upgrade to a 2TB USB to hold more movies and shows. However, after transferring the media, I'm facing some problems. I get a property transfer error, but the videos play perfectly on the USB until I remove it. Once I reinsert it into any device, the media won't play at all. I suspect it might be a formatting issue. I've tried formatting the USB to exFAT, but I still encounter the same problem. When I tried NTFS, I received an error saying, "Windows was unable to complete the format." I've also attempted formatting through CMD and regular Windows formatting (including quick format), but to no avail. I bought this USB at a second-hand market and I'm unsure if it's faulty or potentially has a virus. It stores word documents fine, but my main goal was to use it with my TV. Any advice or tips would really help!

It sounds like you might be dealing with a counterfeit USB drive. If it's a 2TB flash drive, many manufacturers don't produce them in that size, and there are a lot of fakes out there. Could you share a photo of the drive? That might help in figuring out if it’s legitimate or not.

Definitely check for fake drives! Some 8GB drives are modified to show up as larger ones. If that’s the case, they often corrupt data when you try to use them. You might want to get a reliable brand next time. Also, running a malware scan on your computer could help, just to be safe.
