I have an AMD Ryzen 7 5700G processor with 16GB of RAM and I'm looking for a budget-friendly GPU for under $300. I don't typically play games, but I want to be prepared for when I do. Ideally, I'm looking for something that's on par with or better than a GTX 1060 for casual gaming, but I'd like to know if there are options that can handle heavier games as well. I'm using a 1080p monitor with a refresh rate of 100Hz. Thanks!

For a budget of $300, I'd recommend the Intel ARC B580—it’s a new option! If you can stretch your budget a bit more, the AMD RX 9060 XT with 8GB would be a great upgrade.
You might want to check out a used RTX 3080; you can find those on eBay for around $300, sometimes even less on marketplaces. If that’s steep, consider the 3060 Ti for about $200—it's surprisingly good for the price!
Honestly, the GTX 1060 is still a solid choice for budget gaming. Just check out some gameplay on YouTube to see how it performs before deciding!
I'll check out those videos, thanks!
To avoid bottlenecking your CPU, I think the best option could be an RTX 3070, though the pricing can vary. Just make sure the price difference compared to the 3060 Ti is reasonable, as they can sometimes be close together in cost.
Why is the 3070 a better choice? I'm not very tech-savvy.
The 3070 has more potential for performance improvements, especially if you're looking to future-proof your setup. But weigh that against how much more it costs!
If ray tracing is important to you, the RTX 3080 is a solid pick. If not, the AMD Radeon 6900XT offers great value for about $300-350. It has 16GB of memory, compared to the 3080's 10GB/12GB variants. You'd get better performance at the lower end of that range.

Thank you for the suggestions!
