Is the i7-14700K worth the extra cost over the i5-14600K for video editing?

I'm considering builds for my video editing projects using After Effects and Premiere Pro, and I've been looking at the Intel i5-14600K. There's a price difference of about £100 compared to the i7-14700K. Given that I'll mainly be doing amateur-level editing, do you think the upgrade is worth it? Also, are there other CPUs in that price range that might be better suited for my needs? For context, I have 32GB of DDR4 RAM and an RTX 5060ti GPU.

The i7-14700K comes with 20 cores while the i5-14600K has 14. That being said, the i7 runs quite hot, so you’ll want a high-end cooler. The i5 is a great performer for productivity tasks, runs cooler, and is more budget-friendly, plus it supports Intel Quick Sync, which is handy for video editing.

I went with the i5-14600K and I think it's the best bang for your buck with DDR4 CPUs. It handles amateur video editing really well, so I’d recommend saving that money. If you're looking for alternatives, consider checking out used 12700K or 12900K processors, which might be available for a similar price. The 14600K also comes with a strong warranty, which adds extra value.

The i7-14700K is basically an affordable version of the i9-13900K, just with a few fewer efficiency cores. Both the 14700K and the higher-end i9 models share similar performance capabilities, but you'll need a good cooler for the 14700K. While it has impressive synthetic benchmark results, the i5-14600K is more energy-efficient with lower power consumption, which could save you on cooling costs in the long run.
