Should I Upgrade My CPU and PSU After Getting an RTX 5080?

I just upgraded to an RTX 5080 for a great deal and I'm trying to figure out if I need to also upgrade my CPU or power supply to get better performance. I've got an AMD 9600X and a 750W PSU, and when I play at 1440p, I've been noticing that some folks with similar setups are achieving 30-40% more performance. For example, a friend has the same GPU but manages to hit around 105 fps in a game while I'm stuck at about 60 fps on the same graphics settings. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this!

It sounds like you're dealing with some CPU-bound performance issues. If you're primarily playing single-player AAA games like Crimson Desert, a more powerful CPU could help boost those frame rates significantly. Bumping up to around an 850W PSU might also be a good idea, as it would provide extra headroom for your new GPU. Just keep that in mind!

I get what you're saying about your friend's performance. Just remember that going from a 9600X to a better CPU like the 9800X3D can make a huge difference, especially in CPU-intensive games. Just be sure to give more details about the specific games you're playing for more tailored advice.

That makes sense! We’re both playing on Cinematic settings at 1440p with DLAA on, but I'm definitely thinking of making some upgrades now.
