Why is my new laptop taking so long to download Google Chrome?

I recently got a new laptop, but I'm experiencing a really slow download for Google Chrome—it's taking about an hour for just 12MB. My internet is usually not this slow, so I'm wondering what might be causing this issue. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Check where the slowdown is occurring. Can you transfer files between different devices on your local network? If you're on WiFi, definitely consider trying a wired connection if possible.

Unfortunately, I can't use Ethernet since my router is too far from my room.

Just to clarify, what exactly are you trying to download? Google itself isn’t a file you download—make sure you're referring to Chrome. It could be useful to check your connection type too.

When you mention 'Google,' are you specifically trying to download Chrome? Also, are you connected via Ethernet or WiFi? If you're on WiFi, switching to Ethernet could really help speed things up.

Try running an internet speed test by searching 'internet speed test' on Google. Also, check if the write cache on your storage is enabled in the device manager—sometimes that can help the performance.
