How Can I Use My Phone Number for iMessage on My MacBook with a Different Apple ID?

I recently got a new MacBook Air and have set it up with a different Apple ID than the one I use on my iPhone. My goal is to send iMessages from my phone number on my MacBook, but I want to keep my accounts separate. Is there any way to achieve this, or am I out of luck given that they both have different Apple IDs? I'm feeling pretty frustrated with the setup.

You can select which Apple ID iMessage uses by going to Settings > iMessage on your MacBook. However, remember that since your phone number is tied to a different Apple ID, you won't be able to send messages from that number using your Mac. It’s a bit of a hassle having separate accounts like this.

Thanks for clearing that up for me! Just frustrating that it complicates things.

Unfortunately, you can't use the same phone number on two different Apple IDs. Each phone number needs to be linked to one individual account. You might find it easier to manage everything by using the same Apple ID on both devices, but I get that you want to keep them separate.

I appreciate the insight! Looks like I might have to rethink my setup.
