My child has a Lenovo laptop running Windows 11. Earlier today, when she turned it on, she discovered that several important apps like Office, Chrome, and Acrobat were missing. On her desktop, there's a RemovedApps.html file that lists all the apps that were taken off the system. I also noticed a Windows.old folder on the C drive that was created around the same time. Unfortunately, System Restore wasn't set up on this laptop. I'm wondering if there's a way to recover all the apps. Can I just rename the Windows.old folder, or is there a better way to address this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It seems like the Windows.old folder was created due to a recent major update. You might be able to reinstall the apps from there since most user data and settings should have migrated during the update. Just remember that this folder will be deleted automatically after 10 days, so it's a good idea to copy any necessary data to an external drive soon! If you want to roll back the Windows update, it could be an option, but keep in mind that the update will likely re-download again soon thereafter.

Thanks for the info! I'm just curious, what could have caused this issue? My daughter tends to close the lid instead of shutting down or putting it to sleep. Could that have interfered with the update process?
