What to Do If Your Phone Fell in Water and Is Glitching?

I accidentally dropped my phone in water, but I removed it and cleaned the outside right away. At first, it seemed to work fine, but then I decided to power it down because the speakers weren't responding. Now, my phone keeps turning itself on and off endlessly. I watched a few videos that suggested doing a force restart, which I tried twice and it seemed alright for a bit. However, the problem has resumed, and I can't get it to stop. Currently, I have it propped upright under a ceiling fan to help it dry, following advice I found online to leave it untouched until the battery dies. It's been about 1.5 hours since it happened. Is there anything else I can do? Did I make a big mistake?

First off, try to let it dry out completely. It’s a good sign if the problem’s mainly with the buttons. If it’s still switching on and off after a while, you might need to be more proactive about drying it out. Ignoring the on-and-off loop for now could be risky. I'd suggest turning it off completely until it's fully dry.

Should I be concerned if it keeps looping like that? I thought once the water's gone, it would stabilize.

It's likely the water caused some internal issues; maybe even a button is stuck. Keeping the phone on right now isn’t ideal since it can cause more damage. Try taking out the case and removing the SIM card or any expandable tray. The best bet is to power it off and let it sit in a dry place for at least 24 hours to minimize damage.

Exactly! The longer it’s on, the more damage could happen. Letting it rest might save it.
