Will upgrading my graphics card help with game crashes and lag?

I'm currently using a CPU with built-in graphics, which seems to underperform for the games I want to play. I recently tried playing Detroit: Become Human, but I keep crashing on the second chapter. My setup includes an AMD Ryzen 5 3400G with Radeon Vega Graphics running at 3.69 GHz, and I also have 16 GB of RAM. I'm wondering if getting a better graphics card will resolve these crashes in more demanding games, especially since I'm still learning about building computers and I'm not sure what the main issue is.

The integrated graphics on the 3400G really struggle with newer games, including Detroit: Become Human. It’s impressive you managed to get through the first chapter! Upgrading to a dedicated GPU can definitely help, just make sure to check your power supply's wattage. There are some affordable second-hand GPUs out there—like you can find an RTX 2060 for around $100 if your power supply can handle it. It's one of the easier upgrades you can do for your build!

Does the power supply typically have its info printed on it? I never wrote down the specifications when I got it a few years back.

To be honest, integrated graphics are really only good for basic tasks now—maybe some simple email checking or light web browsing. They struggle with anything more demanding like modern games.

Definitely! A decent dedicated GPU will really enhance your gaming experience with modern titles. Just ensure whatever you choose fits in your case and that your power supply is up to the task.

Upgrading your GPU should fix most of the lag, but I hate to break it to you—it might also be worth considering a RAM upgrade to tackle those crashes. Just something to keep in mind before you dive into your upgrade!

Yeaaahhh terrible time to need RAM. I’ll try to go for a dedicated GPU first and then see about upgrading RAM when I can. Thanks!
