I've been using Mint OS for a year to escape the bloatware on Windows, but now I'm looking to dive into Linux customizations that Mint doesn't support well. I need a distro that's as lightweight as possible while still allowing for extensive customization. Any recommendations?

Have you checked out Bodhi Linux 7.0? It's known for being lightweight and should give you a good amount of customization options.
BunsenLabs is a great choice if you're looking for something lightweight and customizable! It has a good balance of performance and flexibility.
Customization mostly depends on the desktop environment you choose, so you can pick almost any distro that comes with GNOME or KDE. Just remember to get GNOME Tweaks for GNOME! You'll have plenty of customization options available to you.
If you're looking for something lightweight and customizable, I would recommend trying Arch or an Arch-based distro like EndeavourOS. They offer a lot of flexibility in terms of customization.
If you're looking for something lighter than Mint but more customizable, you might consider Alpine Linux or Arch. But be prepared for a bit of a learning curve! KDE Neon is also pretty lean if you're interested in KDE specifically. You should definitely back up your data while experimenting, and maybe use a VM to try things out before making any changes to your main system.
Using a VM is a great idea! It lets you play around with distros without the risk of breaking your main setup.
Exactly! Just make sure you understand each command before running it.
