Hey everyone! 😊 I'm curious about how teams, especially in smaller startups, manage their database operations in a production environment when they can't afford to hire a dedicated database engineer. Is anyone else finding this process to be quite time-consuming? I would love to hear about your experiences! If you could share:
1. Your role
2. The industry you're in
3. The size of your company
4. The tech stack you're using
5. What setups you have in place to streamline database operations
Thanks a lot! 🙏

We've opted for Amazon RDS for managing our Postgres databases with automated backups and PGAudit, which has alleviated the need for a dedicated DBA until we really scale up. It's been a great solution so far!
Interesting! What does 'real scale' look like for you? At what point did you actually start needing a DBA?

That's great to know! But I feel like the tricky part isn't just the infrastructure. It's often about figuring out which queries really affect performance and whether to tweak them in the application or adjust the database. Doesn't it seem like DBAs prefer the fine-tuning approach?
