I've recently switched to Fedora 43 with Gnome after leaving Windows behind. I followed a helpful guide for setup, but I'm running into a bit of a problem. While my laptop operates smoothly, plugging in an external monitor creates a slight lag. It's not huge, but it's frustrating because I expected Linux to be smoother than Windows. I'm curious about why this lag happens and how I might solve it. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

It might also help to look into Nvidia drivers if you're using a Nvidia card. Sometimes the default drivers can cause performance hiccups with external displays.
Have you checked the refresh rates for both your laptop and the external monitor? Sometimes mismatched refresh rates can cause lag issues when running dual displays.
Make sure your external monitor’s resolution isn't set too high for your graphics card to handle efficiently. That could definitely contribute to the lag you're noticing.
