Laptop Screen Replacement Issues – Need Help!

I'm in a tricky situation with my HP Envy x360 ay0008ca. The hinge broke, and when I took it in for repairs, the technician accidentally broke the screen. He's covering the cost, which is good, but I want to make sure he replaces it with the correct part. He assured me that he would use the same screen, but now I'm worried he might have lied. The original screen was an Innolux N133HCG-GF3, but he replaced it with a BOE NV133FHM-N5T, which I've read might be inferior.

I'm also concerned because the laptop's magnetic closure isn't working properly after his repair, and now my HP Pen Control indicates that my pen isn't supported anymore. I plan to go back tomorrow since he did a subpar job. I need to know if my original screen was indeed the Innolux N133HCG-GF3, and also whether the BOE NV133FHM-N5T screen is compatible with my pen. By the way, he sent a picture of the old screen's product number, but I'm suspicious it's actually of the new screen based on a date marked on it that seems too recent for my computer. Can anyone confirm my original screen model and help me understand the date formatting? Thanks a lot!

I wouldn't be surprised if they can't find an exact match for your screen since it's an older model. They might be using whatever they can find that works, even if it means sacrificing quality. It's a good idea to ask if they have a used innolux part available, but if not, you may need to push for a better replacement or demand they fix the closure issue before you settle for anything.

It sounds like you're in a bit of a mess! Unfortunately, the BOE NV133FHM-N5T does have lower brightness and contrast specs compared to your original Innolux screen. This could affect your overall display quality. As for the pen compatibility, it really depends on the specific screen model the tech installed. If HP Pen Control isn't recognizing it, that's a major red flag. You should definitely clarify this with the technician when you go back.
