I'm building a PC and I've already got all the parts sorted out except for the CPU and GPU. I'm stuck deciding between the Ryzen 5 5500 and the Ryzen 5 5600X. I don't play highly demanding games, mostly indie titles. Is the R5 5500 a good choice for my needs?

The Ryzen 5 3600 is on par with the 5500 and can often be found cheaper if you look for a used one. It might be worth checking out!
Check out the 5500X3D. You can usually get it at a good price, and it should serve you well for gaming for a long time.
I'd personally lean towards the 5600X. You don’t want to miss out on performance with a weaker CPU, especially if you ever decide to dive into more demanding games.
It really depends on what games you want to play and what you want from your CPU. If you're mainly gaming, consider how much power you want now versus future-proofing for later.
The R5 5500 should be more than sufficient for indie games. I use the 5500 for strategy games like Age of Empires and Anno, and it runs smoothly without issues. Just a heads up if you're thinking of pairing with Intel graphics; I've had some trouble there!

Just a note: if you plan to do more than just gaming, the 5600 is a better choice as it outperforms the 5500 for productivity and is often cheaper too.
