Looking for CPU Upgrade Advice for 1080p Gaming

I'm currently gaming at 1080p with an RX 9070, and I feel like my i5 10400 isn't cutting it anymore, so I need to get a new CPU. I already have 32GB of DDR4 RAM, so I'd like to stick with a CPU that supports DDR4. I'd prefer to invest in a more powerful CPU instead of one that's weaker, and also, I don't have space for an AIO cooler, so keep that in mind. Bottleneck calculators have proven to be unreliable with AMD cards, so I'm looking for some solid recommendations.

Bottleneck calculators are pretty much useless, regardless of what GPU you have! For 1080p gaming, the CPU plays a crucial role, especially with such a powerful GPU. I'd recommend looking into either the Ryzen 5800 X or XT, or Intel’s 13700K or 14700K. While they might be pricey, the 5700X3D or 5800X3D are also solid choices, but they might not outperform the Intel CPUs consistently, depending on the games you’re playing. You should definitely check out benchmarks to see how they perform in your favorite titles!

Totally agree! In some games, the 5800X3D performs on par with the 14600K, and in others where 3D cache is utilized well, it can even outperform the 14700K, especially in heavy sim games like Assetto Corsa.
